Maxi Dress Style with Coldwater Creek
We had a beautiful, warm weekend here in South Carolina, so it was a perfect time for me to wear my new maxi dress from Coldwater Creek. I just love the bright, bold color – it just says spring and summer to me!
When deciding how to style this dress, I didn’t want to go with my typical denim jacket, especially since it was warm enough to not need one. Instead I envisioned a beautiful, bright headscarf would be perfect to take this look to the next level. I’m still on the prowl for different styles to carry me through this growing out phase with my hair, and I truly enjoyed wearing this bold choice. Those of you who follow me on Instagram had a little sneak peek into this look this weekend.
Now a little more about the dress… I ordered a petite medium. First, I must say as a shortie, it is difficult for me to find maxi dresses that do not literally pool around my feet. While that may be pretty in a portrait or poetry, it isn’t particularly practical in real life. So having the option to order a petite was exciting for me. I did still have to wear platform wedges to make this work without alterations, but y’all know I am all about some fun shoes, anyway. Also, I probably should have ordered a small, because the top was a little loose all over. After reviewing the sizing chart a bit closer, I now see I ordered according to habit versus actually checking the measurements, so I highly recommend you check that out should you choose to order anything from them in the future. The fabric of the dress is a wonderful soft knit that doesn’t wrinkle easily and is great for packing. I love the easy draping of the dress and felt it was extremely figure flattering. This maxi dress will definitely be worn more than its fair share over the next few months.
