Striped Tee & Lace Skirt
Today’s look comes with a little style story behind it. One of my favorite bloggers, Alice of Happiness at Midlife, showcased a look featuring her pretty teal, floral, lace midi-skirt a few weeks ago and it immediately struck a chord with me. It turns out Katie of Hello Katie Girl inspired Alice to remember a look she had been planning to wear and had forgotten about. Both of these stylish ladies were originally inspired by Lisa of Respect the Shoes. If you check out each of their looks (and I hope you do!), you will see they each have the same teal lace skirt, with each putting their own twist on the look. While I didn’t have that exact skirt, my black lace skirt immediately came to mind, as I am always looking for new ways to style it. We each had the same base of stripes and lace, with each of us changing it up just a bit to reflect our own personal style. So keep in mind you do not have to the exact same pieces in your wardrobe to make a look you love work.
You may have noticed that three of us ladies chose to go with brooches versus necklaces. I was thrilled to pull out this vintage bird brooch that was passed on to me by my great-aunt. I think it is so pretty and unique, plus it is always lovely to wear a piece from a loved one. I really like how it looks perched on my stripes like it is about to fly.
“With brave wings she flies…“
Also, as you know, I normally don’t pose with my handbags, but in this case, I made an exception. I’ve been carrying this bright red bag for weeks and as I was leaving for this shoot, I just really loved how the red popped against this otherwise neutral look, so in it went.
What I’m Wearing:
- Tee – Joe Fresh
- Skirt – Worthington, JCPenney
- Shoes – BCBGeneration
- Bag – Kate Spade Small Harmony
- Pin – Vintage
Welcome to Fabulous Friday! Each week I plan to showcase at least two of my favorite looks, add them to a Fabulous Friday Pinterest board, and share the love on Instagram and Twitter. Feel free to link up any of your recent blog posts, whether it be fashion, food, fitness, or DIY. Please follow this blog in at least one way, link back to this post, share a specific blog link, and visit other blogs!
Last week’s most clicked link goes to Carrie of Curly Crafty Mom. She featured a great transition look for spring with this long, blush vest and chambray.
Now for a couple of my favorite posts…
Laura of The Horton Family put her own personal spin on a Pinterest look she had been eyeing for awhile. Fits in perfectly with this week’s post and I love those pants!
Lauren of Love Lola shared another spring transition look that I loved. Her asymmetrical tunic is perfection and I can see it as such a versatile wardrobe staple.
Now it’s time to get this week’s party started!
