Boho Chic with The Fab 40’s
The Fab 40’s is a group of seven stylish fashion bloggers from around the globe. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger who is also in their forties to join us. This group’s goal is to take on style trends and show how we each interpret and incorporate them into our own lives. With eight widely varied views, you are certain to find something that speaks to you each month and encourages you to continue to have fun with fashion after 40.
Happy Memorial Day to all of you here in the U.S. I hope you are all enjoying this day off work and take some time to remember those who gave their lives in service of our country. We have so much to be grateful for thanks to their sacrifice.
This month was my turn to choose the theme for The Fab 40’s and I decided to go with something completely outside my norm and chose boho. I have certainly dipped my toes into this area with flares, kimonos and wooden wedges over the past couple of years, but I know it isn’t a style anyone would typically associate with me by any means. Each month we seem to choose themes that push our style boundaries, and I knew this would be a chance for me to embrace this trend more fully.
I found this light, gauzy dress and fell in love with the natural color, gorgeous lace detailing, and handkerchief hemline. The flowy, easy layers are completely different than anything else in my closet. I styled this colorful Alhambra convertible scarf vest over it in a loose kimono fashion, but it can also be styled as a wrap, scarf, and looks great belted. I loved how the colors, pattern, and fringe details of this piece added to the overall boho feel and gave my look more dimension. It is such a light piece I can see myself wearing it throughout the summer. I completed the overall look with espadrille wedges, layered bracelets, and a simple rose druzy tassel necklace that picked up on the colors in the kimono. I thoroughly enjoyed wearing this outfit and loved how breezy and comfortable it felt.
Daenel – Living Outside the Stacks
Daenel is this month’s guest blogger. I “met” Daenel not long after I started blogging and as soon as I had decided on this month’s theme, I knew immediately I wanted to invite her to join us this month. I have long admired her beautiful boho style, and reading her blog, in general. The colors, floral, layers, wedges, Everything, looks positively gorgeous!

Dawn Lucy – Fashion Should be Fun
I am sad to say this is Dawn Lucy’s last month with us here as a part of The Fab 40’s, as she will be graduating and showing us how it’s done in the 50’s. She will be sorely missed. As this is her last post with us, I am really glad I happened to choose a theme in a style she completely Owns. There are so many little details to this look that say boho without being overwhelming. I need those clogs in my life!
