The Ageless Style Link-Up – The first Tuesday of every month nine over 40 bloggers present a different style theme and show a myriad of ways to wear it, all the while proving you can still be fashionable and on trend over 40 and beyond.
This month’s theme is The Dog Days of Summer…How to Beat the Heat. Thanks for choosing such an apropos theme, Debbie, as it is one I can sure use of late!
When it comes to warm weather – OK, let’s face it, Hot weather – which is my reality here in the south, my go to has always been dresses or tees/tanks and a skirt. I am just drawn to their effortless styling, and honestly it is too hot here to even consider anything else. While I do like wearing shorts, I prefer the extra breeze dresses and skirts offer.
When selecting what I wanted to wear for this particular post, I decided on this pretty, loose, white, embroidered dress. White has been a recurring theme with me this spring and summer because it is crisp, clean, and cool. The natural cotton of this dress breathes well and is so light it feels as close to au natural as you can be while still out in public. This particular dress is a bit looser than I normally wear, but I enjoyed the extra breeziness it offered while our temps were at 99, and I don’t even want to talk about where the humidity brought them…
Because of the humidity I decided to go with loose curls, because with my naturally curly hair, a mindset of “If you can’t beat them, join them.” came into play. I added an embellished headband for a bit of control and fun. I decided to complete the look with some gladiator sandals I picked up a couple of months ago and have been wearing repeatedly. I really enjoyed how all of this came together with a bit of a Grecian feel.
What are your go-to looks to beat the heat?
