The Fab 40’s is a group of seven stylish fashion bloggers from around the globe. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger who is also in their forties to join us. This group’s goal is to take on style trends and show how we each interpret and incorporate them into our own lives. With eight widely varied views, you are certain to find something that speaks to you each month and encourages you to continue to have fun with fashion after 40.
This month’s Fab 40’s theme showcases bomber jackets. When I initially received the notification I thought, “Cool. But I don’t own a bomber jacket…” So this was our first theme that required me to do some shopping. Not that I was complaining in any way, mind you. Even though I Love the whole shopping in-store experience, I knew on-line was the best route since I was looking for a very specific item. I was amazed by the wide varieties out there for bomber jackets. There are solid colors, sheer, lace, floral, sporty ones, and some featuring embroidered designs. Ultimately I decided to go with a pastel, floral satin, which is surprising because I don’t really do floral. Or pastels.
Since I chose something sweeter than my norm, I balanced it out with a sophisticated black sheath dress and my studded black pumps. I always take pleasure in a nice contrast of hard and soft. I really enjoyed wearing this look to the office last week and liked the color this bomber jacket gave to the otherwise neutral look. I am really looking forward to styling this jacket in a myriad of ways in the future and am thrilled this theme prompted me to finally add one to my wardrobe.

Sheela – Sheela Writes
This month’s theme was chosen by our group’s fabulous founder, Sheela. I always look forward to seeing what pair of fierce shoes she will be wearing each month and these peep toe lace up heels did not disappoint. They compliment her jacket and shades of blue so well. I am admiring her bold choice of bomber jacket, too. Her look is giving me ideas…

Grace is our guest blogger this month, and I must say I have long admired her bold style choices. Her floral bomber is so fun with her bright miniskirt, platform oxfords, and crop top.

Ann – Kremb de la Kremb
Ann’s look makes me think Miss All American, with its red, white & blue, plus stars & stripes. I am loving her DIY star patched jeans! So cool her sneakers mimic them. Now I want a “J” letter jacket, too. ♥

Diane – Fashion on the 4th Floor
I always look forward to seeing how Diane interprets each month’s theme and feel like I learn so much from her style choices. This softer look surprised me, and I simply love it! I am not a pink girl, but these soft hues are speaking to me. Those rose gold tennies are simply amazing.

Samantha – Fake Fabulous
I have been swooning over “Samantha’s” jacket (it’s actually her daughters) ever since I first spied it. Her daughter has amazing taste, which goes to show the apple truly does not fall far from the tree. I really enjoy how Sam chose to keep things simple and let the jacket take center stage. This is a great example of how one fab piece can elevate basics.
