The Fab 40’s is a group of seven stylish fashion bloggers from around the globe. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger who is also in their forties to join us. This group’s goal is to take on style trends and show how we each interpret and incorporate them into our own lives. With eight widely varied views, you are certain to find something that speaks to you each month and encourages you to continue to have fun with fashion after 40.
First of all, thank you to everyone for the kind words on Friday. They were truly appreciated. I will be in a brace for a few more days, which is frustrating, but feeling much better overall.
I was excited about the choice for this month’s style theme of hats. I love hats and have quite a variety. I especially like cloche styles and fiddler caps like the one I am wearing today, as they work well with my haircut. I am not a floppy hat girl, but do admire them on others. On weekends I love tossing on a hat – not only are they lifesavers when I don’t feel like spending time on my hair, but I enjoy the extra panache they automatically add to whatever I am wearing.
For this month’s look I pulled out this striped skirt because I like how the fall colors work with the browns and textures of my hat. My denim jacket not only offers the coverage I needed with my camisole, but also gives the casual vibe I wanted to go with my hat. I actually wore this to work last week and just pulled off the hat while in the office.
Now let’s take a look at how everyone styled their choice of hats.
Veronica – Cid Style File
Veronica chose this month’s fun theme. Her olive maxi and floppy hat just say fall to me and look perfect together. Over the past few weeks Veronica has shown quite a few olive pieces on her IG and blog which have definitely been giving me inspiration.

Janeane – Designing from my Closet
A big welcome to Janeane as this month’s guest blogger! She is also wearing olive and a floppy hat. I must admit I have been obsessed with this color palette of olive, white and cognac lately, so I loved seeing her take on it. The geometric burnt orange and creme bag certainly adds a bit of fun to this look.

Ann – Kremb de la Kremb
How cool does Ann look in this turban, shorts and sneakers? Ann always adds such great details like the pin on her turban, layered necklaces and metallic sneakers. Also she seriously does the best DIY’s on her blog all the time, and featured two DYI pieces in this post.
Turban – H&M| Pin – Zara| Watch – Fitbit| Sleeveless Blazer – DIY Forever 21| Cutoff – DIY Wranglers| Purse – Zara| Shoes – Lacoste
Mary – Curly Birdie Chirps
Mary looks gorgeous in this body con eggplant dress and teal sweater vest. Another fabulous color combination for fall I am going to have to keep in mind in the coming weeks. I like the unexpected cobalt her hat provides.
Dress – JCPenney| Bag – JCPenney| Necklace – The Limited| Vest = The Limited| Shoes – Jessica Simpson| Hat – Old
Samantha – Fake Fabulous
Samantha always combines the best mix of layers and colors. I am enjoying this combination of menswear inspired pieces with her beautiful floral skirt. Super fun fact – Sam actually chose a men’s hat to wear for this month’s challenge. A great reminder we should always keep our eyes open for items to borrow from the guys.

Sheela – Sheela Writes
I was blown away by Sheela’s feminine and fierce look this month! This bold fuschia hat with its black net veil is so pretty and reminiscent of days gone by. The bralette peeking out, touches of leather, and killer heels, make this a completely modern look.
