The Fab 40’s is a group of seven stylish fashion bloggers from around the globe. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger who is also in their forties to join us. This group’s goal is to take on style trends and show how we each interpret and incorporate them into our own lives. With eight widely varied views, you are certain to find something that speaks to you each month and encourages you to continue to have fun with fashion after 40.
When I found out this month’s theme was preppy, I was more than excited. While I have added several boho pieces to my closet over the past few months, the majority of my wardrobe falls under the preppy category. I love classic button-ups, cardigans, blazers, sheath dresses, skirts, pumps and pearls. While I was excited about this month’s theme, I was also a little overwhelmed with all of my available choices and had a difficult time deciding which direction to even take.
After narrowing it down to a final three ideas, I ultimately decided to go with a traditional favorite fall look. A blazer, jeans and riding boots are a go-to casual Friday look for me. Sometimes I pair it with a graphic tee, other times a button up, and other times a tie neck blouse. For this particular look I layered a striped tee under my gingham button up, added a chunky pearl necklace and a bit of leopard and I was good to go. I like how the pattern mix gives these classics a fresh appeal.
Now let’s take a look at how everyone else dresses preppy.
Michelle – RetroChicMama
A big welcome to Michelle as this month’s guest blogger! I have been a fan of Michelle’s blog since I was introduced to it by Samantha a few month’s ago. She has incredible style, so I was excited to learn Ann had selected her to join us this month. I hope you will stop by her blog and check it out. I really love how Michelle added a whimsical graphic tee to her traditional blazer and slacks.

Ann chose our style theme and guest blogger this month. Ann is a high school librarian in Hong Kong and this photo was taken in her home away from home. I think her fab graphic tee, glasses, penny loafers are perfect with her plaid ankle pants and penny loafers.
