The Ageless Style Link-Up – The first Tuesday of every month ten over 40 bloggers present a different style theme and show a myriad of ways to wear it, all the while proving you can still be fashionable and on trend over 40 and beyond.
This month Debbie selected the fun and apropos theme of Flower Power! I mentioned in last Friday’s post I am not really a floral gal. I am also not into pink or pastels, which is sort of odd, because most people would consider me a girlie, girl. Just because I enjoy wearing dresses, skirts, beautiful heels and shiny jewelry, doesn’t mean I also fit into a stereotypical little box of feminine style. I actually prefer strong, bold colors, prints and graphics, as I think they have their own individual statement to make about being feminine. However, I also choose to know I am a free thinking woman who isn’t afraid to explore different elements of my style and personality to see how those work for me, as well. Sometimes I find I really like the unexpected change. That is one of the wonderful reasons I enjoy belonging to a few style groups who push me to try different things along the way.
Today I am styling a floral shirt way outside my normal style box. It is floral. It is pastel. It has a back lace panel. Three checks for outside my norm. However, it is soft. It is comfortable. It has a super cute knot detail. It is also a step above a normal tee for casual weekend style when you just want to throw on jeans and walk out the door and still look great. I almost skipped the jewelry because this floral print really stands out enough on its own. Outside my norm? Yes. Feeling comfortable enough to strut a different style? Certainly!
