The Fab 40’s is a group of seven stylish fashion bloggers from around the globe. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger who is also in their forties to join us. This group’s goal is to take on style trends and show how we each interpret and incorporate them into our own lives. With eight widely varied views, you are certain to find something that speaks to you each month and encourages you to continue to have fun with fashion after 40.
This month Ann chose our theme and she asked each of us to style our favorite color. Well, those of you have followed my blog for any length of time know my very favorite color is green, and more specifically, Kelly green. While my closet is peppered with this bright color, I immediately had this dress in mind for the occasion. I ordered this vintage wiggle dress from Suzanne Carillo‘s Etsy shop, VintageBySuzanne, and had received it just shortly before Ann shared her theme choice. By the way, if you are ever on the lookout for one of a kind pieces to add to your wardrobe, you should give Suzanne’s shop a look. I browse regularly to check out her latest finds.
Under normal circumstances I would have played up more of the blue in this dress with cobalt pumps and accessories. Y’all know I love a good blue and green mix! Considering this month’s theme I decided to go all matchy-matchy, which is not my norm, to play up the Kelly Green element. I also decided to play up the vintage element of this dress and accessorized with a brooch and pearls. I seriously love how beautiful this brooch looks on this dress.

I am pleased to share Catherine of Not Dressed as Lamb is this month’s guest blogger! For those of you who aren’t familiar with her, she is an award winning fashion blogger based out of the UK and is routinely featured in various lists as an over 40 fashion blogger you should follow. Catherine believes firmly in not following the “style rules” and wearing what you like.
Catherine is styling this season’s It color, blush. So many beautiful blush elements in her look literally from head to toe! I am a fan of the subtle pattern mix of her cute sweater and pretty, floral pants.
Ann – Kremb de la Kremb
Details: Dress – Shein| Shoes – Steve Madden| Crossover Bag – Zara Girls
Ann chose this month’s theme, which I truly enjoyed, because it was so open ended and also a nice way to learn a little more about my stylish companions. Ann’s favorite color is midnight blue and she looks a vision in this velvet wrap dress. I am smiling at her socks and shoes, as they are so Ann. I am also marveling at how she selected the perfect background for her color palette and how it just sets a dramatic mood.
Diane – Fashion on the 4th Floor
Details: Top, Track Pants, Necklaces – Express| Block Heeled Sandals – Chadwick’s of Boston| Bag – Maxwell Scott| Watch – Tokyo Bay
Diane also chose to style a blush pink, as it was her favorite color growing up. Her fun camo print cold shoulder top incorporates a variety of pretty pastels and looks great with her white joggers. I love her blush block heeled sandals and how well they complete this cute look.
Mary – Curly Birdie Chirps
Details: Romper Victoria Beckham Target| Vest – Forever 21| Shoes – Target| Bag – Ora Delphine| Sunnies – NY&Co.
Mary is looks like she is walking on sunshine with a bright dose of yellow, which is her favorite color at the moment. Her orange romper is too cute and I love how she added the long vest as a completer piece, which I never would have considered. This color scheme is sure to make anyone smile!
Samantha – Fake Fabulous
Details: Trousers – Topshop| Top – c/o Bonmarche| Glasses – Fenchurch| Shoes – Vagabond| Earrings – H&M| Bag – Lloyd Baker
Samantha decided to go in the opposite direction with this month’s theme and instead chose a color she used to loathe – pink. She admits to enjoying seeing pink on others more and more and is trying to incorporate more of it into her wardrobe. I have to admit I am feeling Sam’s sentiments about this color on both sides of the spectrum and I am opening up to it a bit more myself. You would never know she is only now embracing this color, as she wears it so well. Definitely looking pretty in pink!
Sheela – Sheela Writes

Veronica – Cid Style File
Details: Overalls – The Gap| Bomber Jacket – Ashley by 26 International| T-shirt – The Rack| Shoes – Nike Air| Sunnies – c/o Torrid
Veronica’s favorite color is actually black, but she decided to change it up and wear another of her favorites – maroon. She is too cute in her overalls and stylish tennies. This jacket is fab from the front, but just wait until you see the back! This look makes me want to give the overall trend a try again.
So there you have it, colors from all over the rainbow. What’s your favorite color and do you incorporate it a lot in your wardrobe?
