The Ageless Style Link-Up – The first Tuesday of every month ten over 40 bloggers present a different style theme and show a myriad of ways to wear it, all the while proving you can still be fashionable and on trend over 40 and beyond.
Welcome to our June edition of Ageless Style! This month Diane of Fashion on the 4th Floor selected our theme of Off the Shoulder, in top or dress form. This style is also known as Bardot for the French style icon who made the off the shoulder look famous back in her heyday. While off the shoulder looks have been back on the fashion scene for a couple of years they have really reached their mainstream fashion stride this year and are being seen everywhere in stores and worn in real life. If you are over 40 you may be asking yourself, “Is this a trend I can still wear?” I offer a resounding. “Yes!” and hope you will stop by and be inspired by my fellow ageless style bloggers who are rockin’ this style trend.
There are a wide variety of off the shoulder styles out there – ruffled, asymmetrical, featuring statement sleeves, peasant, and fitted. I tend to be drawn to more basic, fitted styles. With my broad shoulders and large chest I feel the ruffled styles, while adorable, really accentuate this wider area of my frame making me look like a linebacker. Maybe I just haven’t found the right one yet. I am certainly open to trying other styles of this trend, but for now I prefer something a bit more streamlined.
