The Fab 40’s is a group of seven stylish fashion bloggers from around the globe. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger who is also in their forties to join us. This group’s goal is to take on style trends and show how we each interpret and incorporate them into our own lives. With eight widely varied views, you are certain to find something that speaks to you each month and encourages you to continue to have fun with fashion after 40.
This month we had a real style challenge that meant a bit of work from each of us. We were asked to showcase our DIY style. I have to say I had a lot of ideas in mind, but when it came down to it, time got away from me faster than I expected. Earlier in the month I knew this theme was coming up when I created my DIY step hem jeans and planned to wear them for this post. I also had a tank and lace transformation planned, as well as some tassel earrings. For now, those are just going to have to wait for another day. Since time got away from me I decided to pull out a past DIY – this sheer tie-neck blouse I sewed awhile back. I guess that is about as DIY as you can get starting completely from scratch, in my mind anyway, so I hope it fits this month’s theme.
Overall I love how my final look came together. I love mixing dressy with casual and enjoyed how the sheerness of this top looks a little sexy with the black cami showing through. A bit of bling and leopard add to the sophisticated vibe I always enjoy. My black peep toe slingback sandals are favorite fierce footwear and look great with this raw step hem.

Diane Chose this month’s industrious theme. She showcased a tie dye denim jacket and white cutoff shorts as her projects. The denim jacket revamp has been on her wishlist for awhile and I think it turned out wonderfully. I love how it was completely transformed into a funky one of a kind piece. After seeing the white cutoffs she and Ann are each wearing it is making me want a pair for myself! She is completely rockin’ this crop top, too.

Love how masterfully Mary put together this look. Each and every piece looks as though it was made for each other. Mary took a pair of jeans that were shorter than she cared for and cut them off into one of these seasons hottest trends – cropped flares. Fabulous way to get creative and make it work, Mary! Also, I am loving the denim patchwork.
