It has been a while since I have written a shares post, which was supposed to become a regular thing last year and never quite happened. So I am trying to schedule these on my editorial calendar with more regularity as I know I always enjoy reading more about what goes on behind the scenes with my favorite bloggers.
SPF – I am in love with TarteGuard 30 sunscreen at the moment. I received it in my Glossy Box a couple of months ago and have added it to my daily skincare routine. I wear products with sunscreen in them for my face and neck already, but I like adding an extra layer of protection. This product has a really light scent and doesn’t smell like traditional sunscreens. As much as I enjoy a coconut scent, I don’t want to smell like I am going to the beach in my day to day life at the office. As I am growing older and seeing more and more freckles on my arms I realize I need to start protecting this skin regularly from the sun just like I do my face, neck, and chest.
Summer Fit Club – A couple of months ago I joined an on-line fitness group and it has been really great for keeping me accountable for regular workouts, making good food choices, and keeping up with my daily water intake. There are daily check in posts where you rate yourself, which is helpful. It is nice to have encouragement when you get off track and just knowing you aren’t in this alone. I have been spending more lunch hours out on the walking trail behind our office, and getting up early for kettlebell workouts.
This helps me keep up with making my daily water intake goal. I usually drink a little more, but as long as I get this container in I am doing OK.
Challenge to Change – I also joined a Whole30 online group and it has been great to go through this reset process with others this time around instead of alone as I have in the past. I have really enjoyed seeing other ideas for meals and recipes. Above is one of my breakfasts from a couple of weeks ago – scrambled eggs with chopped baby spinach, sweet potato hash, and sliced tomatoes.
I am loving breakfast burritos in a collard green wrap. Simple scrambled eggs, red & green peppers, onions, bacon, and fresh pico de gallo all wrapped up in a collard green. These greens make great wraps as they are large and are more pliable than lettuces. Like my fancy work china?
With the rainy days due to Tropical Storm Cindy a good, hearty soup has been on the meal plan and my favorite is still Chicken Zoodle Soup. Sometimes I will cook a large pot of this soup and divide it into glass canning jars and freeze for future lunches or dinners. It’s a good way for me to make sure I have something clean to eat on hand at a moment’s notice if I don’t have time to cook.
Reading – I just finished up listening to Rose Madder on Overdrive. I read it when it first came out back in 1995 and could remember the gist of it, but just felt like reading it again recently. As I mentioned a few months ago, Overdrive has become a favorite of mine. It has been keeping me company while I cook, clean, and get in my workouts.
I just downloaded Year of Yes yesterday and began listening to it as I got in my walk this morning. Even though I am still pretty early into it, so far it has been quite good. Do you have any good books you would recommend I check out?
Mina – Just a recent phone photo of baby girl. I was going through papers recently and ran across her birth certificate. She is actually 15 years old. I have been behind a year in my head for some reason. Anyway, in October we will be celebrating her 16th birthday. She still acts pretty young and chipper for the most part, but she is starting to show her age a little. She cannot hear very well and her eyes are getting a little cloudy. All the more reason to spoil her even more than she already is. ♥
