Welcome to 9 to 5 Style! The third Monday of every month Fonda of Savvy Southern Chic and I will showcase a theme featuring our individual takes on a professional look. Our aim is to inspire and show professional style does not have to mean boring and without personality. We hope you enjoy our 9 to 5 Style!
Hey, y’all! How was your weekend? Mine was a pleasant mix of relaxation and stress relieving taking care of business. Seriously trying to become better about the mad dashery of throwing on clothes in the morning preparing for work and events, but still failing. Therefore clothes being strewn about my closet room are all too frequently the norm and the frustration of wasting time having to hang it all back again – Not to mention all the shoes to be paired up and put back in their color coded spots. It takes a toll on my free time. I just keep saying one day I am going to get it all together…
Despite my struggle, I admit I have been doing much better with my editorial calendar and am back with this month’s planned 9 to 5 Style look as planned. This month it was my style prompt choice and I selected lace. Typically when you consider lace it isn’t something you associate with professional style. It is generally associated with weddings, lingerie, boho, or frilly dresses. I have to admit it has only been within the past couple of years I have embraced lace within my office style. I generally select more streamlined lace pieces, such as pencil skirts, tees, or tanks, that can be worn with blazers for a more professional look. I did opt to skip the blazer for this particular look because I wanted to show you can still have 9 to 5 style in lace without one, and because it is in the 90’s here in the south. I am all for being professional without suffering heat stroke when you step out to lunch!
