Welcome to 9 to 5 Style! The third Monday of every month Fonda of Savvy Southern Chic and I will showcase a theme featuring our individual takes on a professional look. Our aim is to inspire and show professional style does not have to mean boring and without personality. We hope you enjoy our 9 to 5 Style!
It’s the third Monday of the month, which means Fonda and I are back with our 9 to 5 style. Although, if you follow either of our blogs you know we both regularly feature our office style. It is fun for us to pair up and showcase a different style prompt together each month, though. This month Fonda selected plaid and I had so many different directions I could have gone with this – plaid shirts, plaid skirts, plaid dresses, plaid scarves…
In the end I decided on plaid pants. I guess because I was a teenager in the 80’s I still find myself drawn to plaid pants. Even though I usually wear dresses and skirts to the office, whenever I see a new pair of smart plaid trousers they inevitably come home with me. I like these tan plaid pants because the plaid is bold and I adore the long, flared legs. Wearing this style pant with a platform heel make me feel tall, so I should probably wear this style more often!
I stuck to neutrals with my nude dotted Swiss tie-neck blouse and platform pumps. The dotted Swiss and plaid give a subtle bit of pattern mixing for additional visual interest and keep the neutrals from being boring. You can check out another way I have styled this dotted Swiss blouse for the office here.

Do you enjoy wearing plaid as much as I do? I would love to hear about it. Make sure you stop by Fonda’s blog to see how she is styling plaid this month!
