I have been rather ambivalent about blogging since my holiday ended and I returned to work Tuesday of this week. It is partially because I really enjoyed stepping away and being in the moment without thinking about blog content, taking photos, and could focus on projects without interuption. It is also because now that I am back at work full time my plate is once again quite full. I am so far behind on reading and responding to all my emails and am hopeful I can catch up on them this weekend. The plan for next week is getting back into a regular posting schedule again. I haven’t been out in the cold and rain to take photos, so today will be a life lately post. Those are always fun!
The HomeDNA kit in this post was provided to me by Lipton Publicity.
HomeDNA| Healthy Weight – I am like most people and always strive to start my year off right with healthy eating and regular excercize. Goodness knows I need it right now after adopting an anything goes attitude between Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day. HomeDNA Healthy weight is a great way to customize my personal diet and excercize plan based on my genetic markers. The process was super simple – register with HomeDNA, swab the inside of my cheeks, and send off the sample. I am currently waiting for my results and cannot wait to learn more about my specific needs. When I receive my results I will share more about this process in greater detail. Meanwhile, I am happy to share HomeDNA is offering a special promotion to my readers!

LipSense – Over the holidays I finally decided to give LipSense a try after my blogging friend Casey Rooney became a distributor. Initially I thought I would order the basic starter kit, and I selected Blu Red as my lipstick shade. Then I thought I would also want a neutral and selected Bella. After looking at the color chart I fell in love with Napa. Casey and I had a big laugh because my order kept changing! I am so loving how long this stuff lasts – seriously, it’s still there at the end of the day and my lips feel so much more moisturized. I am such a fan I am going to sign up as a distributor just for the discounts.
Closet Room Remodel – Over the break I got real about renovating my closet room and can now see the end in sight! I stalled on it for awhile because I didn’t have any extra time and, honestly, I dreaded removing everything so I could paint. That was a huge job and my living and dining room still aren’t quite back to their normal state even now, as they have been housing all my closet items. I painted the walls Sherwin Williams “Software” and love how it looks with the white trim. This photo was after I had just applied one coat, so it looks a little uneven. It’s perfect now. Anyway, as you can see the closet within my closet room has some outdated bi-fold doors. As I was doing my shelf installation, I removed one of the doors and really liked how it opened up the space. I am probably going to remove them permanently. Thoughts?
I have always stored my tall boots under the hanging rack for my dresses. In the past they were just freestanding with pool noodles stuffed inside to keep them upright. I really wanted something that was more “finished” and kept them better organized. In the end I decided to build a simple freestanding unit to house them. I am really pleased with the final result and love the added bonus of having additional storage along the top. Oh, and how fabulous in my leopard rug?! I really cannot wait to finish up this space so I can share the big reveal with y’all soon.
Amazon Prime Photos – Recently my iPhone kept telling me my iCloud storage was almost full. Of course the solution they offer is to pay a monthly fee for more storage. Honestly, I already pay several small monthly fees on things and adding another one to the list isn’t particularly appealing to me. Out of the blue one of my co-workers asked me if I have a Dropbox subscription. Yes, I do, and this is one of those monthly fees I pay… Anyway, he asked if I had tried Amazon Prime Photos. Well, no I hadn’t, nor had I even heard of it. Turns out if you are a Prime member you have access to unlimited photo storage and can even share this photo storage with up to five people in what they call Family Vault. Say what?! You can bet I downloaded this app on my phone asap, transferred all my photos and videos, then cleaned out my iCloud account. Everytime I take a photo on my phone it is automatically downloaded into my Prime Photos. Now to cancel that Dropbox subscription…
New Fridge – A new refrigerator has been on my list for awhile now and I had been holding off until January to begin shopping for one, as I’ve read that’s one of the best time of the year to purchase appliances. I window shopped back and forth between Lowes and The Home Depot several days last week, comparing sales, reading reviews, testing them out in store to see what I liked and what I didn’t. I fell in love with this LG last Friday and all its amazing features – the french doors, door within door, the drawers, SmartThinQ wifi, etc. The price marked on it was $1349. I thought, “that price is too good to be true”. I came back Monday and had the sales associate look up pricing on a couple of different models that weren’t priced. As we were checking, I told her I had seen this LG model on Friday and Loved it. We walked over and looked at it and I told her I didn’t think that price could possibly be correct. We went to the desk and she pulled it up in the system and sure enough it was almost triple the price tag. I was disappointed because those numbers were beyond my budget. I told her I would just have to keep looking because that was more than I planned to pay. She looked at me and said that it is Lowe’s policy to honor the price as marked, even if it was their mistake. She told me to hold on a minute while she spoke to her manager. You could have pushed me over with a feather when she came back and said I could have it at the marked $1349! I am still kind of in shock over it. It was delivered Wednesday and I just love it.
Christmas Tree – How fun is this Christmas tree?! I saw it at Marshall’s after the holidays and thought it was just perfect. I went back later this week and thought if it was still there I would buy it. Unfortunately it was gone. Maybe next year!
