Since Thanksgiving, I have seriously been lax with my eating and exercise. No strictly clean meals, no boot camp classes, and way too many sugars and simple carbs. Let me tell you, those venti Caramel Frappucinno calories add up quickly. I can tell it in my clothes and I feel sluggish and bloated. Yuck. It is definitely time to get back on track. HomeDNA Healthy Weight to the rescue!
A few weeks ago I sent off four swabs of my DNA from the inside of my cheeks to the HomeDNA laboratory. I just received my comprehensive analysis and report showing how my genetic markers most influence my weight. The report was extremely detailed and offered so much information – in fact, the entire document was 72 pages long! I was a little concerned to discover that my overall ability to lose weight with diet and exercise received a below average rating. Yikes! My genetics scored below average in a few categories. I am trying to view it as it is better to be in the know, especially as the report shared detailed information on success strategies for each area. In addition, it also provided meal plans and exercise programs that are perfect for me. I truly enjoyed reading all of the tailormade recommendations for a vast array of catagories and how my genetics are predispositioned to respond well to certain criteria, and not so well to others. I also liked that it provided a list of potential nutrient problem areas so I can discuss these with my Dr. for closer monitoring.
Here are a few pages from my personal report so you can see how this whole thing works.
Now that I know where my nutritional and physical strengths and weaknesses are, I can move forward with getting back on the healthy track with a targeted game plan in hand. No more excuses, it’s time to take action and get moving!
I am happy to share HomeDNA is offering a special promotion to my readers!
