The Ageless Style Link-Up – The first Tuesday of every month ten over 40 bloggers present a different style theme and show a myriad of ways to wear it, all the while proving you can still be fashionable and on trend over 40 and beyond.
This month Daenel chose an amazingly fun theme! She asked us to share a look that was inspired by a fictional character on television, someone whose style we admired and perhaps had carried over a little into our own wardrobes. I thought of a few television character’s who have given me twinges of wardrobe envy in recent years. I am absolutely wild for Phryne Fisher’s, of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, impeccable style and would dress like her every day if it were more practical. I also love different aspects of Gossip Girl Blaire Waldorf’s style and the twists that make a classic look more fun and modern. The Mindy Project’s Mindy Lahiri wears bold colors and pattern mixes like nobody’s business. New Girl’s Jess Day rocks polka dots on the regular. In the end, I decided my style inspiration for this post would be Emma Pillsbury from Glee. I completely adored her character’s style when Glee first began airing. Like Emma, I have a fondness for cardigans, pencil skirts, bow blouses, brooches, and Mary Janes. Miss Pillsbury also embraces bold color combinations and never met an embellished cardigan she didn’t buy. Sounds like we have a Lot in common!
One of the reasons I selected Emma Pillsbury as my style muse for this month’s theme was because I have been toying with the idea of this look for a few weeks now. The embellished blush cardigan and bold floral pencil skirt are a combination I can certainly imagine her wearing. Her character usually wears a bow blouse or button up shirt with her cardis and I happen to have just about every color under the rainbow in button ups hanging in my wardrobe. I realized when preparing for this post I haven’t been wearing them as often lately, and am inspired to get them back into a more regular rotation. Same goes for my cardigans. It is always really nice when you begin seeing items in your wardrobe with fresh eyes again! Nude fishnets and two-toned Mary Jane pumps complete my ensemble nicely.

I rarely take indoor photos and must give kudos to Daenel who does it on the regular and always offers such gorgeous shots. I am still in learning curve mode and while these turned out OK, they aren’t as sharp and crisp as my normal outdoor photo shoots. I am also learning my new 24mm f/2.8 prime lens the boys gifted me for my birthday. It is perfect for smaller indoor spaces in a way that my nifty fifty and favorite 85mm prime lenses are not. I am looking forward to sharing more and hopefully improved photos with you as I learn step by step.
